View Pens List

You can view the Pens list in Table view with filters and sortable columns or in Cards view for a quick glance at the details for each pen.

Follow the guidelines below when working with Pens in both Table view and Cards view:

  1. Add New Pen: Click to create a new pen and add it to the list. See Add or Edit a Pen for more information.
  2. Pen Types: Select a pen type to filter the list of pens displayed by type.
  3. Show Inactive: Check the box to show inactive pens in the list. Inactive pens contain no animals. Uncheck the box to show only active pens in the list.
    NOTE: Clear all filters to see the full list of options available.
  4. View: Choose to view pen information in Table view or Cards view.
  5. Pen: Pen number.
  6. Label: The pen label set by your dairy.
  7. Type: Pen type. Pen types are color coded for quick identification. The default colors for pen types are as follows:

  8. Animal Count/Capacity: The current number of animals in the pen and the capacity of the pen. A colored bar shows the status of the pen.

    : 0-75% full

    : 76-90% full

    : 91-100% full

    : Exceeds capacity

    Hovering over the status bar displays the animals/pen capacity value as a percentage.

  9. Feeding Count: The number of animals being fed in the pen.
  10. Target DM/HDClosed Dry Matter per Head: The amount of dry matter (in weight) each animal should receive per day.
  11. Cost/HD: The cost of feeding each animal per day.
  12. Click a pen number to View Pen Details.
  13. When a pen includes more than 2 types, a number is displayed beside it in the Type column in Table view. This number indicates how many additional pen types are encountered for that pen. If you hover on the number bubble, you can see any additional pen types. As shown in the example below, the number bubble shows a +1 for Pen 6. When you hover over the bubble, you can see that Pen 6 is a User-defined pen, as well as Dry and AIClosed artificial insemination.

  14. Active: Indicates whether the pen is currently active or inactive . This is only displayed in Table view.
