Schedule Automatic Sorting in DC305
DC Unlimited customers can easily schedule when animals are sorted, how often they're sorted, and which group of animals is sorted. After you activate the Allflex integration in the VAS PULSE Platform, follow the instructions below to create and schedule the sort assignments in DairyComp 305. The sort assignments you define are instantly sent to the VAS PULSE Platform, where the information is shared with Allflex SCR Heatime and your animals' sensors.
Follow these steps to start scheduling your sort assignments:
First, you need to define which animals in the herd need to be sorted. Follow these steps to create a new sort code:
- In DC305 DairyComp 305 - VAS Dairy Management Software, enter ALTER\3 on the command line to open your list of existing commands.
- In the upper left corner, click Add [Ins].
- Enter the new command details (see example above):
- Abbreviation: Enter an abbreviation for the sort code.
- Content: Enter the command for the sort code.
- Title (Optional): Enter a description if you want.
For example, if you only want to sort your dry animals, you could enter DRYCUT.
In this example, you could enter CUT=1 for DCC Days carrying calf/pregnant>240 LACT Lactation number>0 to sort out the dry animals in your herd. Specifically, this command tells the system to sort animals (CUT=1) that have carried its calf for more than 240 days (DCC>240) and have had at least one lactation (LACT>0).
NOTE: If you use a different user-defined item that is not named CUT, replace CUT with your customized abbreviation.Visit the DC305 Online Help for detailed instructions on creating commands!
- Click OK to save the new command.
Before you can schedule when your herd should be sorted, you need to remove existing sort assignment tasks from the schedule. Use the following instructions to create a new clear code that you can enter to clear out pre-existing sorting tasks:
- In DC305, enter ALTER\3 on the command line to open your list of existing commands.
- In the upper left corner, click Add [Ins].
- Enter the new command details (see example above):
- Abbreviation: Enter an abbreviation for the clearing task, such as CLRCUT.
- Content: Enter CUT=0 FOR CUT>0, which tells the system to clear any existing sort code tasks.
- Title (Optional): Enter a description if you want.

- Click OK to save the new command.
After creating a new sort code and a new clear code, you can now schedule when your animals are sorted:
- Enter ALTER\6 on the command line to open the Task Scheduler window, which displays a list of all scheduled tasks.
- In the upper left corner, click Add [Ins].
- In the pop-up window, define the following information (see example above):
- Next Date and Next Time: Enter the date and time the task should start to run. We recommend setting the time to 30 minutes before the first shift starts to ensure that all sorting assignments are synced between DairyComp 305, VAS PULSE Platform, and the Allflex SCR Heatime sensors.
- Last Date (Optional): Enter the date when you want the sorting task to stop.
- Interval Unit and Interval: Select the interval type from the drop-down list (hours, days, or months) and enter the interval amount.
- Command to Run: Enter the clear code you created in Step 2, then the sort code you created in Step 1, separated by an exclamation point. For example, if your clear code is CLRCUT and your sort code is DRYCUT, enter CLRCUT!DRYCUT.
- Click OK in the upper right corner to save the new task.
- Click Exit in the bottom left corner of the Task Scheduler window to close it.
The clearing and sorting tasks will now run on the Next Date and Next Time that you specified above.
