Genetic Planning Overview

Alta's BLUE LINK is a genetic planning tool that allows you to improve and adjust specific traits in a dairy's herd. By creating a customized genetic plan, you can select ideal sires and mating partners to refine the herd (or a segment of the herd) in many different ways.
Maybe the dairy wants to focus on increasing production and decreasing the risk of mastitis Mastitis is the persistent, inflammatory reaction of the udder tissue due to physical trauma or infection. Symptoms of mastitis include udder swelling, heat, hardness, redness, or pain. The milk may have a watery appearance, flakes, clots, or pus. in first-lactation cows. Or perhaps the dairy's goal is to improve conception rates. Maybe they're aiming to increase the fat content of their milk.
