Expand the sections below to learn more:
Click the Cow Events or Heifer Events tab to set which diagnoses (events) to include in your Health Trend summaries and to edit event settings.
- Check the boxes for all events to include in your Cow or Heifer summaries.NOTE: Cow events with a benchmark icon have benchmark data available for comparison and further analysis. Benchmarks are not available for heifer events.
- To edit event settings, click the Edit Event option for that event. Then, use the side panel to adjust the settings as needed.
- Use colors to quickly identify event data in your summaries. Set the event color using the Color options:
- Set the Total Loss per Event ($) values for each event carefully, as that value is used to calculate each animals' Health Index Score based on animal age and cost of events to date. The higher the index value, the more likely the animal should be sold. and cost data presented in your Health Index Analysis summary. Enter a total value that reflects your loss in revenue due to milk withholding, protocol treatment/testing costs, and vet bills and staff wages incurred for a single event.
- You can set the Threshold (%) for each event manually. The Threshold value is the expected or average occurrence of an event for your herd. This value is included in your Cow Event Analysis graphs as a red dashed line: .
See Edit Event Definitions for more information.
Click the Benchmark Settings tab to set your location, herd size range, and breed to compare your herd to similar herds.
PULSE collects health event data from other herds that fit the parameters of the benchmark settings, then calculates the average of the collected data to set benchmark values. The benchmark values are then used for cow summaries, making it easier to see if your herd has cow health trends that deviate from the benchmark data:
- Select your Country, State, Herd Size Range, and Breed. When viewing your summaries, cow graphs with a benchmark specify the number of dairies included in the benchmark basis below the graph. Is my data secure?
VAS is dedicated to protecting the privacy of your data. PULSE health event data is compiled, aggregated, and anonymized to remove any identifiable producer or dairy information. Additionally, benchmarks are only included in HealthVAL when data for 25 or more dairies is available for a specific health event. Monthly benchmarks for health events are recalculated and updated on a weekly basis.
See our Privacy Policy to learn more about how VAS protects your data.
- Set your Health Index Threshold Sets the lower limit for index values to include for Health Index Analysis. Animals with an index above this value are included.. This value controls which animals are included in your Health Index Analysis summary. Only animals with an index above this value are included for analysis.
